Singer. Activist. The Queen of Soul.
Academy Award®-winner Jennifer Hudson is Aretha Franklin in Universal Pictures’ upcoming musical drama biopic Respect.
RESPECT is the remarkable true story of the music icon’s journey to find her voice. It follows the rise of Aretha Franklin’s career from being a child singing in her father’s church choir to international superstardom—a career that has seen highs, artistic breakthroughs and innovations as well as personal drama.
It will chronicle the legendary singer’s inspiring music and creativity, her journey that continues to touch lives, and, most of all, her legacy.
No other actress felt right for the role simply because Hudson was personally chosen by the late Queen of Soul years before her death.
