In 2018, HBO launched a black dramedy revolving around the succession of Waystar RoyCo, a family-owned global media conglomerate headed by Logan Roy, whose health is deteriorating. As the family members fight over control of the family, toxicity continues to dominate the relationships of the Roys who backstab each other for the quest of power in the family’s empire.
The series starring Brian Cox (Logan Roy), Jeremy Strong (Kendal Roy), Sarah Snook (Siohban “Shiv” Roy), Kieran Culkin (Roman Roy), and Alan Ruck (Connor Roy) has been dubbed as “one of television’s best dramas” by The Hollywood Reporter and described as an “…an excellent story for a troubling moment in history,” by seasoned film critic and journalist, Roger Ebert.
The second season ended with Kendal Roy—who had been set up to take the blame of Waystar RoyCo’s sins—shaking his father’s dynasty, calling him a “bully” and a “liar” Recently, HBO dropped an official synopsis reading “Scrambling to secure familial, political, and financial alliances, tensions rise as a bitter corporate battle threatens to turn into a family civil war.” For the third season premiering on October 18, 9AM Philippine Time, audiences can expect politics and underhanded actions to steal the spotlight even more as things get even more dysfunctional and sly.
