PHILIPPINES, FEBRUARY 21, 2022The Matrix Resurrections, the fourth chapter in the ground-breaking sci-fi franchise from visionary filmmaker Lana Wachowski, streams first on on HBO GO beginning Saturday, February 26, reuniting original stars Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss in the roles they made famous, Neo and Trinity. Filipino fans can also revisit the original trilogy, The Matrix, The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions, all on HBO GO.

In The Matrix Resurrections, return to a world of two realities: one, everyday life; the other, what lies behind it. To find out if his reality is a physical or mental construct, to truly know himself, Mr Anderson aka Neo will have to choose to follow the white rabbit once more. And if he has learned anything, it’s that choice, while an illusion, is still the only way out of—or into—the Matrix. Of course, Neo already knows what he has to do, but what he doesn’t yet know is the Matrix is far stronger, more secure and more dangerous than ever before.

Reliving this world after so many years was an emotional experience for Wachowski, Reeves and Moss. For Wachowski, “I wanted this older self, this older heart, to be a part of The Matrix Trilogy. That’s one of the reasons I wanted to go back. It is beautiful to watch Keanu and Carrie in this. They’re the perfect age to do this right now—we’re the perfect age. And you see them both reflecting that in this way, and it’s only possible because of the time that has passed. Carrie was fearless and fierce through the first trilogy, but she’s taken that to another level in this. And of course, Keanu, I love him, and I really wanted to see what it was like to go back into this narrative with him.”

The Warner Bros. Pictures film also stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Candyman, the Aquaman franchise) as the wise and worldly Morpheus, Jessica Henwick (TV’s Iron Fist, Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens) as the hacker Bugs, Jonathan Groff (Hamilton, TV’s Mindhunter) as Thomas Anderson’s business partner Smith, Neil Patrick Harris (Gone Girl) as The Analyst, Thomas’ therapist, Priyanka Chopra Jonas (TV’s Quantico) as Sati, a young but wise woman with the ability to always see the truth, and Jada Pinkett Smith (Angel Has Fallen, TV’s Gotham) as Niobe, the fierce General who is suspicious of Neo’s return to the Matrix.

Lana Wachowski directed from a screenplay by Wachowski & David Mitchell & Aleksandar Hemon, based on characters created by The Wachowskis. The film was produced by James McTeigue, Lana Wachowski and Grant Hill. The executive producers were Garrett Grant, Terry Needham, Michael Salven, Karin Wachowski, Jesse Ehrman and Bruce Berman.

Wachowski’s creative team behind the scenes included Sense8 collaborators: directors of photography Daniele Massaccesi and John Toll, production designers Hugh Bateup and Peter Walpole, editor Joseph Jett Sally, costume designer Lindsay Pugh, visual effects supervisor Dan Glass, and composers Johnny Klimek and Tom Tykwer.
