Spoiler alert: In the first five minutes of this film, I already had proof that this is lowkey one of the greatest love stories of all time. The film is simple, yet powerful, because of its message.
Love wasn’t just between two people. It extended to family to a mother’s or father’s love and above all, to
God’s love. I teared up within the first five minutes. I was deeply moved by Lorraine’s love for her daughter.
The casting for young Ed and Lorraine Warren was absolutely perfect! From the visuals to their acting, both actors truly captured the essence of how Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga portray the characters. Their facial expressions were top tier. At first, I had to double-check that the actors playing young Ed and Lorraine weren’t actually Patrick and Vera that’s how good they were. The casting for Judy Warren and Tony Spera was also incredibly spot-on.
Since this is the final case of Ed and Lorraine Warren, it should have been really scary and emotionally
powerful and while the film delivered in some aspects, I felt like it needed more. It should’ve gone further.
That said, it still had its scary moments, with a few effective jump scares. The musical score was excellent;
it created real tension and excitement throughout the story. The visuals and wardrobe design were also
fantastic everything looked perfect.
This film was so emotionally impactful, I had to remind myself it’s a horror movie, not a romance. The
story touched my heart, much like the original Conjuring films did.
The light and love will always shine. At the end of the day, family, goodness, light, and love will always
prevail. Good will always triumph over evil. Love will always overcome fear and hatred. And God will
always win.
Happy endings are real and this film proves that God’s intervention is the most powerful force in the
universe.
