Netflix Philippines Releases Key Art for “Ganito, Ganyan, Ganoon”

Reunite with new and familiar faces in the streaming platform’s highly-anticipated family homecoming drama of the year

Today, Netflix Philippines unveiled the official key art for Ganito, Ganyan, Ganoon, its biggest and most chaotic family dramedy of the year, starring the country’s powerhouse actresses Jodi Sta. Maria and Agot Isidro as the estranged mother and daughter duo at the center of this story.

The key art reveals a stunning, scenic beach photo of a typical extended Filipino family, seemingly inviting viewers into what appears to be a picture-perfect family moment, but one that possibly hints at something more.

Directed by Cholo H. Laurel, Ganito, Ganyan, Ganoon follows Joanne or Jo (Sta. Maria), a TV writer on the precipice of a career-defining move. She is thrown off-course by the return of her mother and eventually made to confront the buried wounds from her childhood—the pain that has defined and followed her well into adulthood. Sta. Maria has this to say about her character: “She’s accomplished, she’s intelligent, she’s very strong, but the question is ‘why’? What motivated this character to be the way she is?”

Opposite her is Isidro, who breathes life into Paz, a formidable woman who harbors secrets of her own, and whose return to the Philippines sets the story in motion. Her complexity will prove to be as perplexing as the enigmatic years she spent living in New York, decades that her daughter, Jo, will gradually untangle over the film’s course.

The film is set to lean not only into the emotional pull of a typical Filipino family narrative, but more importantly, into the distinct “dysfunctions” that make each family’s experience truly unique; those that shape us, divide us, and ultimately, pull us back together.

Speaking at the Next on Netflix Philippines event in February, Laurel highlighted Netflix’s courage in bringing such a story to life: “They were willing to give it the creative freedom that we needed to be able to stay faithful to the vision.”

Sta. Maria and Isidro are joined by an equally compelling ensemble of old and new faces alike, including Gabriel Lazaro, Gardo Versoza, Ruby Ruiz, RK Bagatsing, Mitch Valdez and Angel Aquino.

The film promises a story hinged on moments of profound love, tentative resentments, hilarious chaos, and ultimately, lingering regrets, all of which coexist simultaneously to paint the portrait of a quintessential Filipino family.

‘Ganito, Ganyan, Ganoon’ will premiere globally on August 13. Only on Netflix.
