He must have been in front when God was handing out talents because Idris Elba is one massively skilled individual — an actor, a director, a musician, and a producer. He is now starring in an indie offering, Three Thousand Years of Longing, what looks to be a charming, quirky, and slightly dark offering.
In the movie, Idris Elba plays opposite Tilda Swinton as a Djinn who offers to grant her three wishes. The trailer doesn’t give away much when it comes to the complexities of the story, but the production value is solid and we love the magical element reminiscent of those fairytales we loved as kids. Before Three Thousand Years of Longing though, he was Stringer Bell in HBO’s The Wire, one of his more recognized works, which tells a narrative of the narcotics scene in Baltimore.
