HBO/HBO Max Receive 140 Emmy Nominations, The Most Ever Of Any Network Or Platform This Year

PHILIPPINES, JULY 13, 2022 – Warner Bros. Discovery scored 193 Primetime Emmy® nominations, with HBO/HBO Max receiving 140 Emmy® nominations across 24 original programmes for the upcoming 74th annual Emmy® Awards. HBO/HBO Max earned the most nominations for a single network or platform this year, marking the 20th time in history that the HBO brand has received the most Primetime Emmy® nominations of any network/platform in a single year. This bests HBO’s previous record of 137 nominations in 2019.

The 74th annual Emmy® Awards will be presented on Monday, September 12.

Programmes produced by the Warner Bros. Television Group received 44 nominations for the 74th Primetime Emmy® Awards. This includes Outstanding Comedy Series nominations for Abbott Elementary and Ted Lasso, both produced by Warner Bros Television. Ted Lasso led all comedy series with 20 nominations for its second season. Abbott Elementary led all network comedies with seven nominations, and its creator/star Quinta Brunson — nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series, Lead Actress, and Writing — made history by becoming the first Black woman to receive three Emmy® nominations for the same comedy series in a single year. Warner Bros. Unscripted Television’s The Voice was nominated for Outstanding Competition Program.

TBS Original Full Frontal With Samantha Bee Presents: Once Upon A Time In Late Night received 1 nomination for Outstanding Short Form Nonfiction Or Reality Series. Full Frontal with Samantha Bee along with its affiliated specials and related Short Form elements, has received a total of 23 nominations thus far, making it TBS’ and the T-Nets’ most nominated programmes to date.

Conan (TBS Original) received 1 nomination for Outstanding Picture Editing For Variety Programming. Conan, along with its affiliated specials and related Interactive elements, has received a total of 17 nominations.  The series has received nominations in 10 of the last 12 years since the debut of the programmes on TBS in Fall 2010.

TNT original series Snowpiercer received 1 nomination or Outstanding Special Visual Effects In A Single Episode, marking its first Primetime Emmy nomination for the series.

Adult Swim’s Rick and Morty and Tuca & Bertie gained a nomination each for Best Broadcast Network or Cable Animated Series or TV Movie, while Smiling Friends is nominated for Best Animated Short Form Series.

TCM’s documentary Dean Martin: King of Cool received a nomination for Best Broadcast Network or Cable Documentary TV Movie.
