Raw, real, and natural. Jacob Elordi fits this role surprisingly well. From his looks to his acting, everything feels right
for the character. Josh Brolin, of course, is perfectly suited for a role like this. Margaret Qualley
also looks beautiful and fits her character naturally. And Jasper? So cute, yet so brave.
The story feels raw and realistic, showing how people navigate life after a deadly pandemic
while dealing with grief, fear, and uncertainty. It explores how people can reveal their worst
sides when everything falls apart, while others continue to carry the emotional scars of what the
world has been through.
The final 30 minutes are absolutely worth the wait. The musical scoring is insanely good, and the
film’s use of color is striking and deserves to be experienced on a big screen especially in IMAX.
And then there’s Jasper. Spoiler alert: his death is heartbreaking, but it fits the film’s realistic
and unforgiving world. There’s a constant sense of anxiety whenever Jasper wanders around
with Elordi’s character, knowing how dangerous their surroundings have become.
The Dog Stars is a raw, emotional, and grounded story about survival, grief, and finding small
reasons to keep going in a world that no longer feels safe.
